What an amazing week!
Jack is doing so incredibly well- it’s crazy to think that just two days ago, I couldn’t even hear his voice…..
Therapy is no joke and Shepherd is the place to be! His weeks consists of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Activities of Daily Living, Rec Therapy, Sports Therapy, Assistive Technology, Counseling, Stim work….and a billion other things!
In PT, a few things he is working on are: prop sitting (this helps strengthen his shoulders/arms to get ready for transfers from bed to chair, chair to car, etc.), laying on his belly, tilt table and so much more
OT- Wrist movement, hand driving and ADL (brushing teeth, eating with utensils and using his phone)
Rec Therapy- Playing card games, board games, making bracelets and video games.
Sports Therapy- he will get into this in the next couple weeks- but that’s fishing, rugby, soccer, basketball, pool…..
Assistive Tech- Using voice activated Alexa to turn on the tv, navigate the firestick, work with the controller on his video gaming system.
Counseling- Stim work (electric stimulation on muscles to wake them up) and making sure his emotional and mental wellbeing are in a good place.
As I mentioned in my last post, the time we have been given back has changed our perspective on life….we wake up and go to sleep every day and night surrounded by people who care, by people who have unconditional love for us and we for them. Empathy is something not to take for granted. It’s how we intend to live out or days here on this green and blue planet. I have so much more love, patience, hope and empathy than I thought possible and it feels good. It feels like the way life was meant to be lived.
Jack and I are so thankful to each and everyone of you. The journey continues!
